摘要

Air pollutionAir pollution significantly contributes to various healthHealth issues, particularly respiratory and cardiovascular diseasesCardiovascular disease, which disproportionately affect vulnerable populations residing in urban areas. Therefore, reducing air pollutionAir pollution levels can play a crucial role in achieving several targets of Sustainable Development GoalSustainable development goal 3 (SDG 3) 3 (SDG 3), which aims to promote healthHealth and well-beingWell-being for all. This study aims to review the existing literature on the interlinkages between air pollutionAir pollution and healthHealth, specifically focusing on SDG 3 target 3.9, which addresses the challenges of air pollutionAir pollution. The study examines the connectionsConnections between air pollutionAir pollution and each of the SDG 3 targets, drawingDrawing evidenceEvidence from recent literature. The study identifies significant links between air pollutionAir pollution and maternal healthMaternal health, child healthChild health, and communicable and non-communicable diseases, which fall under the first set of targets (targets 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4). Additionally, connectionsConnections are found between substance abuse (targets 3.5 and 3.a) and road accidents (target 3.6). The study also emphasizes the importance of addressing universal healthHealth (targets 3.7 and 3.8) and building the capacity of health systemsHealth system (targets 3.c and 3.d) as essential actions for promoting healthHealth and well-beingWell-being. Finally, the study explores the linkages between researchResearch and innovationInnovations (target 3.b), presents a research agenda, and proposes a conceptual frameworkFramework for understanding the interlinkages between air pollutionAir pollution reduction and achieving SDG 3 targets. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of reducing air pollutionAir pollution levels to achieve the healthHealth-related SDG 3 targets. It also identifies the need for a multi-sectoral approach involving various stakeholders to implement policies and interventionsIntervention aimed at reducing air pollutionAir pollution and promoting healthHealth and well-being.
