摘要

Health and social well-being are two mutually exclusive concepts that confirm the sustainable developmentSustainable Development of every nation. Therefore, investigating the factors that influence the health and social well-being of a nation will be vital to the public and for policymakers. This study therefore explores the influence of macroeconomicsMacroeconomics needles on the sustainable development goal’s number three in Nigeria. Data for the study were acquired from the World BankWorld Bank for 30 years (1992–2021). A unit root test and a co-integration test were conducted to help in choosing the optimal estimation for the analysis. Consequently, an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) was selected as the optimum estimator for the analysis based on the outcomes of the foregoing tests. The findings indicate that there is a strong favourable relationship between GDPNominal GDP per capitaGDP Per Capita and life expectancyIncrease Life Expectancy in both the long run and short run. This further implies that a higher GDP per capitaGDP Per Capita will lead to a higher longevity in Nigeria. Moreover, the studies also revealed that there is an inverse relationship between unemployment and the life expectancy in both the long run and short run. This suggests that a higher rate of unemployment is associated with a lower longevity. This study would be of paramount importance to the Sustainable Development Goal’s Number Three gender, which focuses on enhancing the health and social well-being of a nation. The findings of the study will be useful to Nigerian government, international policymakers and global leaders in formulating strategies that might positively improve the health and social well-being of a nation and the world at large.
