The twentieth century ideally began with the death of NietzscheNietzsche, Friedrich (25 August 1900). The German philosopher's God is Dead (1882) encapsulated and synthesized an era which was exceptional, and unrepeatable for the European continent, with a marked revolutionary and avant-garde character. Until the outbreak of the First World War, dozens of cultural and social movements arose.
