摘要

The topic of this section promotes little millets, a category that is sometimes overlooked in spite of its remarkable ecological and nutritional benefits. We give a thorough explanation, examining their biological traits, health advantages, and environmental benefits. The chapter explores the biology of little millets, looking at their growth habits, genetic makeup, and amazing adaptability. Subsequently, we analyse their potential for use, emphasising their abundance in vital nutrients, dietary fibre, and bioactive substances that promote health. Furthermore, the chapter emphasizes the sustainability aspects of little millet cultivation. Their low water and input requirements, soil enrichment capabilities, and resilience to climate change make them a compelling agricultural choice. Furthermore, we investigate potential developments in the future, such as improvements in breeding and cultivation methods and campaigns to raise consumer and market awareness. By synthesizing current knowledge and outlining future directions, this chapter aims to position little millets as a cornerstone for sustainable agriculture, improved nutrition, and enhanced food security.
