Conceptualizing Context for Computational Tasks

I present an integrative approach for analyzing context. First, I suggest differentiating between a situation and a context. I present seven dimensions of a situation (e.g., the ambiance)Ambiance and four dimensions of a context (e.g., the shared knowledgeShared knowledge needed to understand the situationSituation). This generic approach is explained and illustrated. The approach will be used in the following chapters to guide the analysis of various situations.
