Rationality in Mixed Environments

  • Maxim Malikov

摘要

Mixed, complex environments can enable alternative utility functions other than personal payoff maximization to dominate the environment, even without the presence of spatial effects or memory of past actions. Such environments can also lead individuals to choose suboptimal strategies in game theoretical scenarios, while exhibiting completely rational behavior. A variety of rational behaviors based on different utility functions are examined, an approach to choosing strategies in a mixed environment is explored, and an agent-based model of such mixed environment is presented, where agents are exposed to a multitude of diverse game theoretical scenarios and adopt behavior that is consistent, invariant, and rational.
