Morphosyntactic Properties of Old English Lacking in Old Scandinavian and Middle English

As Old English disappeared in medieval times, certain typically West GermanicWest Germanic syntactic features disappeared with it. In their place, we find North Germanic features in Middle and Modern English. The missing Old EnglishOld English (OE) properties treated in this section were indisputably absent or already disappearing in Norse, so their absence from Middle English is straightforward evidence of the continuous use and expansion of Norse in the DanelawDanelaw.
