Hungary
摘要
This chapter discusses the fall of communism in Hungary. Hungary was affected by the communist “red terror” after the First World War, which made the society even less eager to accept the communist utopia than other countries of the region. The 1956 Hungarian Uprising was probably the first counterrevolution in the region. After the crushing of the uprising Kadar’s regime tried to “bribe” society with “goulash communism”. In 1980s the alternative political scene started in earnest; in 1989 it resulted with the peaceful takeover of the power by the opposition following the reburial of Imre Nagy and roundtable talks with the authorities.
