African-Led Military Interventions
摘要
There have been numerous conflicts in the continent of Africa that has succeeded the turbulent times of colonialism. Many conflicts have spilled over borders because they have been left untreated that has left political and security vacuums for terrorists to fill that has caused regional instability in Africa. With the spillover of conflicts, ethnic tensions have remained that have resulted in suspicion of governmental rule and the loyalty of the armed forces due to the fear of colonial preference and the subsequent emancipatory independence movements. This, often, resulted in changes to ethnic rule and intensified ethnic conflict and refugee problems in neighboring states. Moreover, the role of regional organizations has increasingly become involved in African conflicts, which has included the African Union and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in peacekeeping missions.
