Proposal of a Methodology for Measurements of Mechanical Properties of Polymers
摘要
A methodology is proposed for measuring mechanical properties of polymers synthesized in the laboratory. Special attention is paid to the different types of specimens that can be used, the preparation of the samples, the conditions for the tensile tests and the homogeneity of the films. The tests were carried out in a Miniature Materials Tester from Polymer Laboratories at fixed temperature and humidity, determining the maximum tension, the modulus of elasticity and the deformation at break in polyamides and polyesteramides derived from tartaric and succinic acids. To validate the results, parallel tests were carried out under the same conditions with commercial films (Mylar from DuPont), whose industrial properties are known. The results of the mechanical characterization of polyamides and polyesteramides are shown. The methods and procedures used are suitable for teaching and research work linked to the preparation and determination of mechanical properties in polymers and can be applied to other types of materials.
