Conclusion: Is It Just Me Being a Killjoy and What Are the Public Optics?
摘要
The conclusion in this chapter is that the findings suggest both low order interventions and emerging psychosocial risks at work are socially trivialised in popular cultural settings. Practical applications from this research could result in creating an awareness of these attitudes which in turn may assist agencies to understand how emerging HSW issues are perceived by the viewing audience. Potentially counteracting a dissonance of views about workplace culture and behaviour in popular media could include encouraging workers to accept trivialisation creep may dilute the importance of certain WHSW cognitions. The study creates awareness about contrasting beliefs such as downplaying the tendency to diminish the significance of warning signage, PPE or use of antiquated or insensitive language. People should be encouraged to confront the inconsistency and make positive changes that align with acceptable beliefs and actions. The alternative is to tolerate risk trivialisation but in doing so people risk negative outcomes.
