Performance Improvement for Energy-Efficient CSS with Optimized Cognitive Users Over Fading Channels

摘要

This paper presents a new method to enhance energy efficiency in cognitive radio networks that operate over fading channels. The proposed framework intelligently chooses a subset of cognitive radio (CR) users from the available pool based on the fading channel conditions, thereby reducing overall energy consumption. In the cooperative sensing system, a fusion center (FC) receives sensing input from the selected SUs. Simulation results showcase the effectiveness of the optimization framework, which yields significant enhancements in energy efficiency (EE) compared to conventional methods while maintaining satisfactory detection performance. Additionally, the results underscore the crucial role of fading channel conditions in the selection of the number of CR users and power allocation strategies.
