Computer-Aided Detection/Computer-Aided Diagnosis

This chapter addresses the major elements of computer-aided detection (CADe) and computer-aided diagnosis (CADx). In particular, the main stages of a CAD system are reviewed followed by a brief description of the major elements characteristic of a deep learning-based CAD system, highlighting three components are essential in order to provide a useful output to assist with decision-making and accurate diagnosis: mass detection, mass segmentation, and mass classification.
