Estimation of Feedback Between Synoptic Scale Vortices and Upper Ocean Layer

Feedback between synoptic scale vortices and the upper ocean layer is consider. This feedback occurs because of increasing wind over the sea which is a reason for increasing mixing in the sea which in turn decreases sea surface temperature and increases air density above the sea surface. Due to this baroclinic factor which has an impact on the vortex emerges. It’s shown that this feedback hasn’t yet been investigated. The simplified model based on the vorticity evolution equation and Poisson equation for stream function is formulated. The numerical implementation of the model is given. The movement of cyclones and anticyclones over the sea with and without the baroclinic factor is simulated by this model. The results of this simulation are presented. The results show that the abovementioned feedback is positive for cyclones and the baroclinic factor shifts both types of vortices to the north relatively the vortices which have no impact of baroclinity.
