Wind Profile Evaluation by Using Result of Wave Forecast Model

  • Denis Romashchenko

摘要

Wind waves are quite an important process, over which the wave boundary layer extends, due to their integral participation in the processes of momentum, heat and moisture exchange. The wave momentum flux produced by wind waves changes the distribution of turbulent flows throughout the thickness of the layer, thereby creating deviations of the dynamic characteristics from the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory. This paper substantiates the need to take into account the wave spectrum when using models of atmospheric circulation over large water areas. A one-dimensional parametric model of the wave boundary layer is used to parameterize the wave produced momentum flux. The model has modifications that improve its correctness and accuracy in relation to the parameterization taken into account during calculations. The results of experiments of the wave boundary layer model, which used the wave spectrum evaluated by the wind wave prediction system, are presented. A significant influence of the wave momentum flux on the dynamic characteristics in the wave boundary layer of the atmosphere due to the influence of the energy-dense wave spectrum is shown.
