Understanding Rural China
摘要
This chapter tells the reader what “rural citizens” mean in China. It shows that if English education is generally unsatisfactory in China, it is worse in the rural less-developed regions due to lack of resources, low teacher quality and parents’ level of education. Moreover, teacher training programs for TBLT for rural English teachers remain detached from the rural realities. Therefore, both teachers and students do not appreciably benefit from the curriculum reform.
