TBLT in Curriculum Innovation and TPD Programs in Chinese Context

This chapter introduces the important role of English in the Chinese context and the general ineffectiveness of English education. As a result, TBLT was introduced and mandated in the national English curriculum. However, teacher development programs for TBLT adopted a top-down cascade model, which kept the innovation at ideological level instead of realized in the classroom.
