Student-Led Organizations and Initiatives for Environmental Impact

This book chapter examines the central role of student-led organizations in promoting environmental sustainability in educational institutions. It delves into the complex notion of nature and its significance in contemporary society further providing an overview of student-led organizations, highlighting their different structures, goals and modes of operation. Emphasizing the central role of student leadership, it explores how these organizations act as catalysts for sustainability by promoting co-activism, awareness and action. Moreover, the chapter attempts to classify and analyse different types of student-led environmental initiatives, from campus greening projects to advocacy campaigns and research projects. Drawing on case studies from around the world, the chapter highlights successful examples of student-led organizations that are making a tangible environmental impact through innovative approaches and collaboration. These case studies provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of student-led initiatives in promoting sustainability and generating positive change at local, national and international levels.
