摘要

The central degenerative tear at and around the TFC and its extent are assessed on at least two perpendicular images. Degenerative tears are classified using the Palmer classification. The type II A tear with central wear/erosion of the TFC can be very subtle. Chondromalacia of the lunatum or ulna is added to a type II B lesion. The type II C has a central perforation of the TFC, which needs to be quantified in size. If the LTL is also perforated, the lesion is upgraded to a type II D and, in the case of ulnocarpal osteoarthritis, to a type II E. Long-standing and substantial degenerative lesions may be accompanied by extensive hydrops and secondary osteochondromatosis. A degenerative cyst may develop from the TFC.
