Young British Muslims Voice in Britain

For this chapter, I asked my 11-year-old son—who, as previously noted, declared himself as 50% British—‘What is Britishness?’ Puzzled by the question, he was unable to give me an answer. I probed and asked, ‘What is British values?’ He quickly replied, ‘They are the values that make me British’. I asked if he knew what the ‘British values’ were. He replied, ‘No, but I am sure school will tell me’.
