Something About Rhythm

The concept of rhythm is compared with bar, meter, cadence (G. Hegel, F. Couperin) and tempo (W. Landowska). Rhythmic organisation can be seen in ancient poetic composition. Melodic rhythm expresses the true accents of the music. Also, there is a demonstration of the energetic quality of musical movement illustrated by a recording of Rondino by Jean Sibelius (Op. 81, No. 2) for oboe and piano, with the author playing oboe.
