The professional community centered on the ACM Special Interest Group in Computer Graphics has been an inspiration. I was involved in its early evolution and relish the human connections it has fostered over five decades. I tried to forge better connections between the computer vision and graphics communities, but was less than successful. I also served the community through editorships, including Graphical Models.
