With academic and public exposure, our work comes to the attention of the Crew Station Design Section at NASA Johnson Space Center. We obtain funding from them to program an interactive human modeling and ergonomic analysis system called TEMPUS. This initiates a multi-year association with NASA, and later leads to additional project work with NASA Ames and other sites. I appreciate the value and intellectual impetus that came from working with practitioners who needed to solve real-world problems. Important body positioning algorithms include inverse kinematics reach, shoulder, and spine models.
