Recognition

This chapter focuses on the dynamics of Indigenous recognition in settler colonial conditions in the context of multivocal, interdisciplinary, and loaded political debates. Clarity is needed. There is a legal meaning of recognition, there is a philosophical meaning of recognition, and there is a psychological meaning of recognition, and we should be mindful of the specific registers according to which “recognition” is mobilised in public and scholarly discourse. Indeed, the very notion of “recognition” begs the question: recognition of what?
