摘要

The objective of this study was to develop a tool, the KYKLOS 4.0 Product Personalisation Solution, able to enhance the User Experience during the online customisation and order of medical devices by making it as simple and immediate as it is for consumer goods (i.e. sunglasses or technical clothes). In order to guarantee an inclusive and intuitive purchase experience of customised medical devices, the authors subverted the conventional shopping paradigm where hours of technical time and many fitting sessions are required before product delivery, by allowing the user to completely configure the product from home. A Methodology for Parametric Product Design has been designed and integrated into technical tools to automatically reconfigure the product based on user anthropometry and behaviour. The prototype of a web-platform of the KYKLOS 4.0 Product Personalisation Solution has been developed within the main Framework of the KYKLOS 4.0 Project where a wheelchair manufacturer was involved as end-user, so the customisation and purchase of a wheelchair has been used as case study to validate it. The use of 3D virtual manikins allowed to test the entire procedure simulating different percentiles and sexes and, combined with Standards requirements, to optimise inputs and parameters necessary for product customisation. The usability and reliability has been assessed through the System Usability Scale (SUS) standardised test, which has been designed in order to identify necessary mitigation actions to be implemented to enable the user to perform the required tasks quickly and error free and enhance their satisfaction.
