In-Home Wellbeing Monitoring Technologies for Frail and Pre-frail People: A Scoping Review

摘要

Elderly people face difficulties due to frailty, such as increased susceptibility and decreased physiological reserve. Effective intervention and health state management can be achieved by actively monitoring frail and pre-frail people using wearable sensors and health monitoring technologies. This review aims to furnish a comprehensive overview of technologies used to monitor and support the well-being of frail and pre-frail individuals, emphasizing their pivotal role in averting and managing health deterioration. The technological solutions considered in this study encompass wearable sensors, smart homes, smart appliances, biometric sensors, artificial intelligence, robots, and chatbots. By using these technologies, one can collect and analyze numerous physiological, behavioral, psychological, and health status data to enable realtime monitoring and early identification of changes related to ageing. The review also looks at the various ways in which monitoring technology used in living environments and living institutions, focusing on their functional requirements. The study highlight possible advantages and prospects pf technologies for health state monitoring, activity monitoring, mental health monitoring, analyzing sleep patterns, and rehabilitation. This review conclude the study by presenting commercialized technological products and implementation challenges related to the support of elderly well-being monitoring.
