Understanding the Influence of Amino Resin Percentage on the Hybrid Abaca–Kenaf Polyester Composite’s Mechanical Properties

Many scientists and researchers are interested in eco-fiber composites because of their better strength, environmental friendliness, and ease of production. The resin blend can increase the mechanical properties of this eco-fiber composite. The primary objective of this study was to develop hybrid Abaca–Kenaf fiber composites using a polyester resin blend of variable amino resin percentages. From the experimental results, it was found that, when compared to the A-0, A-5, and A-15, the A-10 has superior tensile strength and modulus at around 35.23%, 31.42%, and 26.80%, respectively. The A-10 composite has a higher bending strength and modulus than the A-0, A-5, and A-15 composites by about 28.00%, 25.87%, and 33.30%, respectively. Similarly, the A-10 has a modulus of around 22.14%, 10.23%, and 17.87% when compared to the A-0, A-5, and A-15 composites, and a high ILSS strength of about 41.06%, 31.76%, and 42.37%. The A-10 composite outperforms other composites in terms of impact strength and RHN. It is feasible that A-10 composite would function better than ABS plastic for automobile interiors, despite the fact that there isn’t much of a difference between A-15 and A-10 composites.
