A Study on Waterfront Space Renewal Strategies for Old Urban Areas Based on Vitality Enhancement–The Case of Community Renovation Along Tiaodeng River in Yongchuan, Chongqing, China
摘要
Waterfront spaces have long been recognized as vital public areas in urban settings, but complex and diverse problems have led to the loss of vitality in old urban areas, making it challenging to fulfill the demands of the community. In this study, we approach the issue from the standpoint of enhancing site vitality, using the AHP hierarchical analysis method to construct an evaluation system for waterfront space vitality in old urban areas. By examining the community transformation project along the Yongchuan Tiaodeng River in Chongqing, we propose a five-pronged strategy for vitality enhancement: ecology, economy, society, environment, and culture. This aims to reinvigorate urban waterfront spaces, restore the ecological integrity of the area, preserve the humanistic essence of the old city while enhancing residents’ sense of belonging, enhance the living environment, and uphold the city’s cultural and historical legacy.
