Axillary Surgery for Breast Cancer
摘要
Axillary surgery for breast cancer has evolved significantly in recent decades. Axillary dissections have been largely replaced by sentinel lymph node biopsies for many patients leading to improvements in operative morbidity without worsening oncologic results. Node status remains an important component of breast cancer staging and prognosis and has implications for adjuvant therapies. The indications and techniques for axillary surgery for breast cancer are discussed below.
