Breaking Barriers with Health Literacy: Oral Health and Nutritional Health Education of Bolivian Adolescents and Youth
摘要
Health literacy is a consistent predictor of individual and community oral health, nutritional status and education level in the Plurinational State of Bolivia. This chapter reports on a study that aimed to determine the general, oral and nutritional health literacy of Bolivian students. Two hundred eighty-three students (146 male and 137 female) from public and private schools in urban and rural areas of Cochabamba participated in the study. A quantitative study was conducted, consisting of a survey and structured guide Q-LIS-SON-BOL based on the HLQ (Health Literacy Questionnaire). The results demonstrate the need to increase health literacy, food health literacy, and oral health literacy skills in Bolivia.
