Starch-Based Nanomaterials for Food Packaging
摘要
Given the environmental problems with conventional resources, biodegradable packaging material is being used as an alternative to polymers derived from petrochemicals. The purpose of the article is to bring the latest knowledge about the use of biodegradable films based on starch in food packaging. Based on the findings, it appears that starch is a unique biopolymer because of its affordability and availability. This chapter examines starch-based biodegradable films, combining the state of the field & research with practical applications for food packaging. As a result, it offers insight into the use of nanomaterials to extend the shelf life of food packaging which could be highly relevant in the food industry.
