Conclusion

In this chapter, I summarize the cognitive processes of women engaged in the desistance process. Drug and alcohol use impact the desistance process. In addition, systemic barriers impact women’s ability to commit to a crime-free life. Nevertheless, women continue to engage in desistance processes and with supports from service providers, they can meet their life goals.
