Utilization of Water Resources in the World’s Smallest Economies

  • Aneta A. Teperek

摘要

Chapter 7 addresses the key environmental factor of water, encompassing both marine and inland sources. A significant portion of the chapter is dedicated to examining the world’s smallest economies with access to the sea and the maritime Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), which brings numerous economic benefits. These include the development of sectors such as maritime transport, tourism, marine fisheries, and access to underwater marine resources, as well as wind and renewable energy. While examining inland waters, which are of critical importance to the development of the agricultural and industrial sectors, particular attention is given to drinking water, which is a fundamental necessity for humans. The world’s smallest economies with restricted availability of potable water are identified.
