Advancing Sustainable Learning by Boosting Student Self-regulated Learning and Feedback Through AI-Driven Personalized in EFL Education

This quantitative methods study investigates the impact of AI-mediated language teaching on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students’ capacity to regulate their own learning as well as their feedback-response and self-regulation skills, considering the significant influence of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching. Interest in AI-based educational tools and their revolutionary potential in EFL language teaching in Asia. The population in this study is junior high school class VIII, with 258 students. A total of 35 students from junior high school participated in the study and received teaching through artificial intelligence chosen by the purposive sampling technique. The self-report survey measures independent learning and second language (L2) feedback, and the pre- and post-tests evaluate proficiency in English language acquisition in the areas of vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing ability, and grammar. The study results show the results of learning English, the use of independent learning techniques, and feedback according to quantitative analysis. Qualitative analysis of five interviews with students highlights the revolutionary impact of AI platforms, which increase engagement, provide personalised learning experiences, and, ultimately, encourage drive and autonomy. These results are useful for researchers and teachers who want to use AI-powered platforms in language classes because they show that AI-mediated language teaching could improve language learning outcomes, such as better use of instructor time, lower performance-related anxiety among students, fair education for all students, and higher levels of student competency due to more constructive criticism and evaluation. The successful implementation of these AI tools depends on teachers’ backgrounds, which include their biases, education, and experience. Most students think that a balanced use of these AI tools is the best way forward. Proper guidance is essential to ensuring thorough and productive use of AI tools in the classroom. Our study findings suggest that more research is needed to fully utilise these tools for the benefit of students and educators, especially about their accuracy, practicality, and efficiency in future EFL classrooms.
