Harnessing Emerging Disruptive Technologies for Society 5.0 in Africa: Advancements in Precision Agriculture, Machine Learning, and IoT
摘要
Agriculture remains the primary source of livelihood for most Africans despite being challenged by factors such as climate change and limited investment. Overcoming obstacles faced by African farmers is crucial to boost food productivity that can meet the growing food demand. To address these issues, digital technology, including emerging technologies such as machine learning and the Internet of Things (IoT), is being prioritized in Africa. This paper examines the role of digital technology in enhancing product variety in African agriculture. While digital solutions are not standalone remedies, they offer substantial assistance in specific areas. The platform economy serves as a case study, highlighting the transformative potential of digital technology and emerging technologies for Society 5.0 in agriculture. The platform economy revolutionizes the agricultural landscape by effectively matching supply and demand, providing African farmers with increased product variety, income, and livelihood opportunities.
