This chapter discusses the transformative potential of disruptive technologies in the developing world’s healthcare sector. The integration and impact of telepresence robotics, an innovation that transcends geographical and logistical barriers to healthcare access, are explicitly emphasised. As digital avatars, telepresence robots enable healthcare professionals to interact with, diagnose, and in some cases treat patients remotely, thereby bridging the healthcare gap in remote regions. It explores how these robots, equipped with advanced features such as real-time audio-visual communication, patient monitoring, and even medical data analysis, redefine patient care by delivering timely, effective, and high-quality healthcare services. In addition, this chapter explains the hurdles associated with deploying telepresence robots, including infrastructure requirements, policy regulations, and social acceptability. Through case studies and empirical evidence, this chapter emphasises the potential of telepresence robots to reduce healthcare disparities and improve healthcare outcomes in developing nations. In the end, this chapter proposed that adopting such disruptive technologies is essential for ushering in a new era of healthcare delivery consistent with the principles of Society 5.0.

摘要
