This chapter examines the significance of social media data and the application of cutting-edge social computing techniques in the context of Society 5.0. An analysis of existing literature is carried out to investigate the impact of social media integration and advanced computing techniques on societal transformation. Massive amounts of social media data have created both opportunities and challenges. Researchers have introduced a wide range of social computing techniques, such as social network analysis (SNA), natural language processing (NLP), and recommendation systems, to collect and analyze such massive amounts of social media data. The integration of social media data and social computing techniques is critical to achieving Society 5.0 objectives. It aids in solving societal problems in a variety of areas such as governance, education, health, and transportation. This chapter also discusses the challenges posed by information overload and disinformation in the context of Society 5.0, as well as the need for ethical considerations to address these issues.
