Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is a clinically heterogeneous disease that is indolent, localized, invasive, and metastatic, with multiple mechanisms and signaling pathways involved in its genesis and evolution. It could develop resistance to conventional treatment, and ITCs could affect different cell populations, including CSCs and androgen-dependent and androgen-independent epithelial cells, both in vitro and in vivo [1]. ITCs activate cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and autophagy. They also exhibit activity against metastasis and angiogenesis, acting on epigenetic mechanisms and signaling pathways. Therefore, they offer an encouraging perspective for new approaches in the chemoprevention and treatment of prostate cancer.
