Advanced Extraction and Isolation Strategies for Bioactive Compounds from Plant Sources: A Pharmacological Perspective
摘要
As noted in various prior research analyses, natural remedies can be considered the safest approach to addressing and preventing various human ailments. In recent eras, pharmacology has had a huge interest in isolation of and studies on bioactive natural products, although bioactive natural products are only present in traceable amounts in natural medicines. Therefore, the extraction technique is used as the earliest step for natural product extraction. As the crude extracts are obtained, the isolation of compounds starts through the process of fractionation with the help of chromatographic separation. Thereafter, obtaining the different fractions, analysis has to be done via spectroscopy so that the chemical character of fractions and structural attributes of compounds of interest can be elucidated. This chapter provides a comprehensive view of various methods used for the extraction and isolation of compounds.
