Nutraceuticals and Diet Supplements May Influence Cancer Immunotherapy

Immune cells play a crucial role in cancer progression. Checkpoint immunotherapy is widely employed for treating various diseases, including cancer. Cancer immunotherapy involves the use of antibodies directed at immune checkpoints present on immune cells and/or cancer cells. However, certain intrinsic and extrinsic factors can influence the efficacy of immunotherapy responses. In this chapter, we will delve into the tumor microenvironment, the fundamental concepts behind immunotherapy, and its associated side effects. We will also discuss some factors present in nutraceuticals and dietary supplements that help reduce immunotherapy-related toxicities and enhance the efficacy of checkpoint immunotherapy.
