3D Printed Textile Accessories with Degradable Materials for Reduced Environmental Impact
摘要
Sustainable textiles are becoming more and more popular. These innovative textiles focus especially on creating textiles that are both environmentally friendly and long-lasting. This new approach involves using special materials and machines to create eco-friendly products. Our research is all about developing an exciting accessory using 3D printing with the epsilon w50 SC machine. 3D printing is different from traditional methods and has many benefits. It allows us to make intricate designs and reduce waste. To be eco-friendly, materials that can break down naturally such us Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Polylactic Acid (PLA) were selected. In fact, PVA is environmentally safe and dissolves in water. PLA is an excellent substitute for conventional plastics since it is produced using renewable resources like corn starch. Using these materials can contribute to reduce waste and protect the environment. In order to study the mechanical properties of developed accessories, IZOD tests were carried out using RAY-RAN pendulum machine from HESS, following ISO 180:2019 standards. Moreover, washing tests were performed at 40 ℃ to evaluate the durability of developed accessories in everyday situations.
