摘要

India, as one of the largest economies with vast land area and a significant youth population, is a land of opportunities, particularly for gig workers, commonly known as unorganized workers. Unlike traditional unorganized laborers engaged in strenuous and hazardous tasks, modern gig workers provide intelligent, time-framed, and technology-driven services. The study delves into the reasons behind choosing gig jobs, the nature of these jobs, and the job satisfaction levels of employees. Focused on 250 food delivery gig workers, the research explores associations with service providers like Swiggy (37.60%), Zomato (37.60%), and Uber (37.60%). Findings indicate that 48% opted for gig jobs due to flexible schedules, while 86.86% considered it an alternative to traditional employment. Moreover, 48.40% of gig workers operate during peak hours and 80.20% express satisfaction with social welfare schemes provided by the Tamil Nadu State Government. Recognizing the potential of gig workers, both state and central governments are prioritizing their protection, contributing to GDP growth.
