Incorporating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Business School Education: Alumni Perspectives on Comprehensive Workplace Readiness

This investigation centers on the incorporation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles within business school education, with a specific focus on the perspectives of alumni. As the significance of DEI in organizational success continues to rise, comprehending the influence of business school instruction on the DEI competencies of graduates becomes imperative. The research delves into the relationship between the DEI knowledge acquired during business school and the subsequent career progression of alumni, extracting insights from their professional experiences. By pinpointing the challenges confronted by alumni and seeking their recommendations. The study is descriptive and based on both primary and secondary data. Using a structured survey questionnaire, data were gathered for this study from 71 Alumni of different B Schools. Secondary data were also gathered via publications, websites, newspapers, and research articles, among other sources. Hypotheses were evaluated to find significant relationships between comprehensive DEI education and a variety of abilities, including cultural competency, inclusive leadership, ethical decision-making, and more. Inferential statistics, in particular the chi-square test, were used to test the hypothesis, finally, the study concludes that there are positive indicators of awareness and endorsement for the integration of DEI in business education, there is also room for improvement in addressing varying perceptions of B-Schools’ preparation for DEI and enhancing skills related to these aspects. The findings emphasize the importance of continued efforts to embed DEI principles in business education for better-equipped and socially conscious professionals.
