Right Ventricular Function and Pulmonary Hypertension

Using the ventricular pressure–volume relationship and the time-varying elastance model, we discuss normal right ventricular function and right ventricular–pulmonary artery interaction. This is followed by discussion on the pathophysiology of acute and chronic increases in right ventricular afterload, and the hemodynamic impact of vasoactive agents.
