Impact Loading

This chapter is devoted to impact loading. An impact occurs when two or more bodies collide. The impact could be caused by a weight falling on a designated object. An important characteristic of an impact load is the generation of relatively large forces at points of contact for relatively short periods of time. An impact load is defined as the force provided by a sudden load on the designated object. Analysis of impact, dynamic deflection, numbers of problems, and solutions are discussed.
