摘要

Currently, several approaches arising from behavioral and cognitive models have been used with results that are known to lead to a new way of understanding practice in clinical psychology. With these changes, a cognitive functional integration seems to bring together two strands of work that historically seem to differ much more in philosophical aspects than in empirical ones. The integrative characteristics of approaches in psychotherapy known to work are a trend in the current scenario. The objective of this chapter will be to present the central processes of psychotherapies in a way that contemplates the behavioral, cognitive, acceptance and mindfulness aspects of this family of approaches. From this paradigm, the integration with genetics, evolutionary psychology, neurosciences, and other areas of knowledge can mutually contribute, to move towards the practice of what really works.
