Laparoscopic Ileostomy

From a technical standpoint, laparoscopic ileostomy formation is a low-risk, life-saving surgical procedure. Conversely, it can be associated with significant postoperative morbidity and economic burden that may negatively influence patients’ quality of life and recovery. The complications related to an ileostomy can be minimized by judicious attention to detail during formation as well as comprehensive pre-operative patient education.
