Methodology for Declaration of Conformity Under ISO/IEC 17025 Associating Confidence Levels and Risk Analysis

Accreditation under the ISO 17025 standard is crucial for quality management in testing and calibration laboratories. The methodologies and systematic approaches used for method validation and uncertainty calculations depend on the nature of the tests and calibrations conducted. The declaration of conformity holds significant importance within the standard. Normative references exist that enable the formulation of this declaration through specific methodologies, which require evaluating uncertainty across various scenarios. In this study, we present a methodology that aims to establish a higher level of confidence in declarations of conformity by formulating hypotheses and quantifying the associated risks. This proposed approach facilitates a more comprehensive analysis of the declarations issued. The methodology has been successfully implemented in accredited laboratories specializing in both physical testing and chemical testing. Our findings demonstrate that this methodology is applicable to laboratories across various testing domains, irrespective of their respective areas of specialization.
