Ocean Basket: Affordable Delicious Seafood Every Day for the Global Market
摘要
Fats Lazarides always aspired to be an entrepreneur, but the South African political atmosphere was not conducive. He knew that it would be a difficult entrepreneurial journey as he did not have a start-up capital and had minimum business management background, but being new in the business space that seemed saturated did not affect Ocean Basket’s founders’ entrepreneurial mindset. Expansion into other provinces and cities in South Africa and later the global market remained on their radar and was materialized. Fats’ biggest worry, that of fish food being expensive and unaffordable for the ordinary customer, was also dealt with through an innovative business model design. The business has progressed hugely from where it was to its current standing both in its local market and globally, but there is still a need to expand into other markets with different cultural backgrounds and religious belief systems. This case examines what should be their business model moving forward?
