Introduction: Daring to Be Wise About Serendipity
摘要
This chapter presents how the notion of Sapere Aude (Daring to be Wise) opened the door to understanding how serendipity played a role in my formative university years relative to having a predisposition to wonder and be to open to various forms of discovery. It lays out the conditions of what might be called a moral inquiry into Functional Scientific Literacy and introduces how Phronesis and Sophia is tied to human flourishing. This chapter “sets the stage” for the four subsequent chapters in Part I of this volume.
